The Gray Cowl of Nocturnal is a DLC sized mod for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition that adds new land to explore and about eight to ten hours of gameplay to the game. The gameplay of this mod revolves around puzzles and stealth.
Even though the mod never forces the player to use stealth, it certainly rewards player for adapting a stealthy play through.
Background Story
The Gray Cowl of Nocturnal was passed on by Corvus Umbranox to The Champion of Cyrodiil at the ending days of the Third Era, making them the Gray Fox. But in their final days the Champion does not find anyone in the Thieves Guild to be worthy of being the next Gray Fox, and hence expresses their wish to hide the Gray Cowl in a place where only a worthy thief or the Dragonborn could find it.
Upon Champions's request Corvus Umbranox with the help of Chancellor Ocato secretly devices a path to test the ability of the person willing to take the Gray Cowl.
Since then, the decedents of Umbranox are waiting to guide the Dragonborn towards the Gray Cowl of Nocturnal. After stealing, Dragonborn gets a vision, referred to as 'The call of Gray Cowl' which shows the Dragonborn location where decedents of Umbranox, Seviana Umbranox reside. Seviana debriefs Dragonborn and the quest to retrieve The Gray Cowl of Nocturnal begins.
