(Humpty-Dumpty Ja'bal was beheaded, his head displayed in front of the temple of Anequina for three months. When the clerk named Ka'i stepped before Ja'bal, Ja'bal began to speak innocently. This is one of his stories, the story told in the first month.)
'Once upon a time Ja'bal was an old kitten. It was not hard for him to strangle chickens, crush chicks, and break eggs. Nothing was hard for him.
Later Ja'bal became a frightening old cat. Killing chickens became a bit cruel. But crushing chicks and breaking eggs was still not hard for him.
Yesterday, Ja'bal was beheaded. Killing chickens and crushing chicks became a bit cruel. But breaking eggs is still not hard for him.
Today the body of Ja'bal will be eaten by the birds. Chickens, chicks and eggs mean nothing anymore. Nothing is needed, no chickens, chicks or eggs.
When that happens, an old kitten is born again. And then nothing will be hard to him again. Without anything to do, nothing will be hard again.'
The clerk Ja'i turned pale. He scared away the birds gathering on Ja'bal's body and ordered the guards to throw the body into the deepest, darkest crevice of Anequina. Then, Ja'i said to Ja'bal: 'Now we shall not starve for our conscience, nor will our conscience wither.'
When Ja'bal heard this, he started to cackle.
'Everything has ended when Ja'bal was beheaded, no conscience will bear fruit, and no one will gain freedom by the enjoyment of these fruits.'
